# Servoid Registry

The Servoid Registry provides an API layer on top of a data storage backend for managing typed resources and their associated states. In the Servoid ecosystems the Registry is responsible for storing the resource definition for all Servoid-related resources (VMs, volumes, networks, etc) and notifying the resource provisioners of changes to those resources.

While the Registry is designed for the Servoid ecosystem, it is kept as generic as possible to support a wide variety of use cases. It can easily be adapted to be used with any project that needs a typed document store.
