@aws-sdk/client-transfer
Description
AWS SDK for JavaScript Transfer Client for Node.js, Browser and React Native.
Transfer Family is a fully managed service that enables the transfer of files over the File
Transfer Protocol (FTP), File Transfer Protocol over SSL (FTPS), or Secure Shell (SSH) File
Transfer Protocol (SFTP) directly into and out of Amazon Simple Storage Service (Amazon S3) or Amazon EFS.
Additionally, you can use Applicability Statement 2 (AS2) to transfer files into and out of Amazon S3.
Amazon Web Services helps you seamlessly migrate your file transfer workflows to Transfer Family by integrating
with existing authentication systems, and providing DNS routing with Amazon Route 53 so
nothing changes for your customers and partners, or their applications. With your data in
Amazon S3, you can use it with Amazon Web Services services for processing, analytics, machine learning, and
archiving. Getting started with Transfer Family is easy since there is no infrastructure to buy and
set up.
Installing
To install this package, simply type add or install @aws-sdk/client-transfer
using your favorite package manager:
npm install @aws-sdk/client-transfer
yarn add @aws-sdk/client-transfer
pnpm add @aws-sdk/client-transfer
Getting Started
Import
The AWS SDK is modulized by clients and commands.
To send a request, you only need to import the TransferClient
and
the commands you need, for example ListServersCommand
:
const { TransferClient, ListServersCommand } = require("@aws-sdk/client-transfer");
import { TransferClient, ListServersCommand } from "@aws-sdk/client-transfer";
Usage
To send a request, you:
- Initiate client with configuration (e.g. credentials, region).
- Initiate command with input parameters.
- Call
send
operation on client with command object as input. - If you are using a custom http handler, you may call
destroy()
to close open connections.
const client = new TransferClient({ region: "REGION" });
const params = {
};
const command = new ListServersCommand(params);
Async/await
We recommend using await
operator to wait for the promise returned by send operation as follows:
try {
const data = await client.send(command);
} catch (error) {
} finally {
}
Async-await is clean, concise, intuitive, easy to debug and has better error handling
as compared to using Promise chains or callbacks.
Promises
You can also use Promise chaining
to execute send operation.
client.send(command).then(
(data) => {
},
(error) => {
}
);
Promises can also be called using .catch()
and .finally()
as follows:
client
.send(command)
.then((data) => {
})
.catch((error) => {
})
.finally(() => {
});
Callbacks
We do not recommend using callbacks because of callback hell,
but they are supported by the send operation.
client.send(command, (err, data) => {
});
v2 compatible style
The client can also send requests using v2 compatible style.
However, it results in a bigger bundle size and may be dropped in next major version. More details in the blog post
on modular packages in AWS SDK for JavaScript
import * as AWS from "@aws-sdk/client-transfer";
const client = new AWS.Transfer({ region: "REGION" });
try {
const data = await client.listServers(params);
} catch (error) {
}
client
.listServers(params)
.then((data) => {
})
.catch((error) => {
});
client.listServers(params, (err, data) => {
});
Troubleshooting
When the service returns an exception, the error will include the exception information,
as well as response metadata (e.g. request id).
try {
const data = await client.send(command);
} catch (error) {
const { requestId, cfId, extendedRequestId } = error.$metadata;
console.log({ requestId, cfId, extendedRequestId });
}

This client code is generated automatically. Any modifications will be overwritten the next time the @aws-sdk/client-transfer
