# Snaplet
Snaplet gives you production-realistic data you can code, test or debug against. It’s an easier and safer way to get data from your database, or to generate seed data.

## Getting started

If you don’t have production data, Snaplet [generate](https://docs.snaplet.dev/getting-started/quick-start/generate) introspects your schema to understand your database, its relationships and data, and creates seed data that’s more realistic than a seed script, with less configuration.

If you have access to production data, Snaplet’s [snapshot](https://docs.snaplet.dev/getting-started/quick-start/snapshot) functionality can capture a [subset](https://docs.snaplet.dev/core-concepts/capture#subset-data)  of your data and [transform](https://docs.snaplet.dev/core-concepts/capture#transform-data) any sensitive information, making it safe and practical to code against.
