ellipse-to-polygon

Receives a Coordinate and ellipse properties and aproximates a ellipse by creating a polygon that fills its area The GeoJSON spec does not support ellipses. If you wish to create an area that represents an ellipse, your best bet is to create a polygon that roughly approximates the circle. In the limit of the number of edges becoming infinite, your Polygon will match a circle.

Installation

npm install --save ellipse-to-polygon

Usage

const ellipseToPolygon = require('circle-to-polygon');

const center = [-27.4575887, -58.99029]; // [lon, lat] degrees
const numberOfEdges = 32; // optional that defaults to 360
const semiMinorAxis = 25000.0;           // in meters
const semiMajorAxis = 40000.0;           // in meters
const angle = 45.0;                      // in degrees

const points = ellipseToPolygon(center, distanceLon, disanceLat, angle, numberOfEdges);
