Visualruby is a complete IDE for making graphical user interfaces with ruby. It utilizes glade interface designer to create windows, and uses a library of GUI helpers to make coding GTK+ programs easy. The IDE really helps you organize your files and your thoughts because it names your ruby files and glade files by a naming convention. You files take on the names MyClass.rb, and MyClass.glade. Then you can easily edit the GUI (glade file) by right clicking on your class's file. It also creates .gemspec files for you, then you can right-click on the .gemspec file to install it, or upload it to rubygems.org. You can also yank your gems with one click. This project is extracted from the My #HuntLibrary project at NCSU Libraries.

Zachary's Tool Kit contains a collection of reusable classes meant to simplify development of complex systems in Ruby. These classes provide functionality I often find myself needing from project to project. Instead of reinventing the wheel each time, I've started building a collection of reusable classes. Tickle is a date/time helper gem to help parse natural language into a recurring pattern. Tickle is designed to be a compliment of Chronic and can interpret things such as "every 2 days, every Sunday, Sundays, Weekly, etc.

Hirb currently provides a mini view framework for console applications, designed to improve irb's default output. Hirb improves console output by providing a smart pager and auto-formatting output. The smart pager detects when an output exceeds a screenful and thus only pages output as needed. Auto-formatting adds a view to an output's class. This is helpful in separating views from content (MVC anyone?). The framework encourages reusing views by letting you package them in classes and associate them with any number of output classes.

Bulkrax is a batteries included importer for Samvera applications. It currently includes support for OAI-PMH (DC and Qualified DC) and CSV out of the box. It is also designed to be extensible, allowing you to easily add new importers in to your application or to include them with other gems. Bulkrax provides a full admin interface including creating, editing, scheduling and reviewing imports.

Pure Ruby implementation of RFC 7252 (Constrained Application Protocol (CoAP)). The Constrained Application Protocol (CoAP) is a specialized web transfer protocol for use with constrained nodes and constrained (e.g., low-power, lossy) networks. The nodes often have 8-bit microcontrollers with small amounts of ROM and RAM, while constrained networks such as IPv6 over Low-Power Wireless Personal Area Networks (6LoWPANs) often have high packet error rates and a typical throughput of 10s of kbit/s. The protocol is designed for machine-to-machine (M2M) applications such as smart energy and building automation.
