You shouldn't actually use this. Right after I published it, @techoweenie let me know that the GitHub V2 API actually lets you delete repos. Since the V3 API doesn't, I just assumed the V2 API didn't either (seems strange to have dropped it in V3, but wev).

Anyway, go use that instead. Move along, nothing to see here.

I'm only keeping the code up here in order to preserve my stupidity. (Really, what software can't you say that about.)

Deletes GitHub repositories for you. USE AT YOUR OWN RISK.

Available as a gem:

gem install github_repo_deleter

Use it like so:

require 'github_repo_deleter' GitHubRepoDeleter.delete_repo('username', 'password', 'repo_name') #=> true

See the documentation on the GitHubRepoDeleter module for details, and do yourself a favor and read the code before using this, so that you know what it's actually doing with your credentials.

== Contributing to github_repo_deleter

  • Check out the latest master to make sure the feature hasn't been implemented or the bug hasn't been fixed yet
  • Check out the issue tracker to make sure someone already hasn't requested it and/or contributed it
  • Fork the project
  • Start a feature/bugfix branch
  • Commit and push until you are happy with your contribution
  • Make sure to add tests for it. This is important so I don't break it in a future version unintentionally.
  • Please try not to mess with the Rakefile, version, or history. If you want to have your own version, or is otherwise necessary, that is fine, but please isolate to its own commit so I can cherry-pick around it.
