SimpleFCM

SimpleFCM is a minimalist client for Firebase Cloud Messaging to send Push Notifications.

Installation

Install the gem and add to the application's Gemfile by executing:

$ bundle add simple_fcm

If bundler is not being used to manage dependencies, install the gem by executing:

$ gem install simple_fcm

Usage

# Initialize a new client for talking to Firebase Cloud Messaging. Client.new
# takes an optional parameter which is either the path to a service account
# config file or the raw config JSON. Not passing a config or passing nil will
# pull the configuration from environment variables.
client = SimpleFCM::Client.new("path/to/service_account.json")

# See https://firebase.google.com/docs/reference/fcm/rest/v1/projects.messages/send
client.push({
  message: {
    token: device.token,
    data: {
      message: "Jinkies! Something happened",
      id: snitch.id,
    }
  }
})

Development

After checking out the repo, run bin/setup to install dependencies. Then, run rake spec to run the tests. You can also run bin/console for an interactive prompt that will allow you to experiment.

To install this gem onto your local machine, run bundle exec rake install. To release a new version, update the version number in version.rb, and then run bundle exec rake release, which will create a git tag for the version, push git commits and the created tag, and push the .gem file to rubygems.org.
