Import the registration of <uui-avatar-group> via:
import '@umbraco-ui/uui-avatar-group';
When looking to leverage the UUIAvatarGroupElement base class as a type and/or for extension purposes, do so via:
import { UUIAvatarGroupElement } from '@umbraco-ui/uui-avatar-group';
