signalk-data-age-watchdog

Signal K plugin to monitor the freshness (age) of timestamped data from any specified data paths. Triggers visual/sound notifications if data becomes stale.

• Calculates and publishes the age (.dataAge) of each configured Signal K path.

Installation

From Signal K Server UI:

• Go to Appstore > Available plugins
• Find Data age watchdog or signalk-data-age-watchdog
• Click Install, then enable and configure

Or from command line (bash): cd ~/.signalk npm install signalk-data-age-watchdog

Configuration

You can configure this plugin via the Signal K web UI.

Options: Paths to monitor (array): One or more full Signal K paths you want to track, e.g.:

environment.inside.temperature navigation.position electrical.batteries.0.voltage

Maximum allowed data age (seconds) (integer): Threshold after which a notification will be issued.

Output & Notifications

For each configured path adds a key: <original_path>.dataAge Example: environment.inside.temperature.dataAge

Triggers a notification on: notifications.<original_path>.dataAge.dataStale

Example notification path: notifications.environment.inside.temperature.dataAge.dataStale

Use cases

• Monitor sensor health or data link issues
• Alert if GPS or temperature data stops updating
• Watch for stale battery measurements
• Use with other plugins like signalk-zones, KIP or dashboards
