This also removes a few other codes that provide no benefit for the user, such as codes that are attached if you received YouTube bell notifications for the video, and other user tracking/analytics type codes. Make copy pasting the address to share media give you much cleaner links.

Even without YouTube timecodes, you can resume videos, so I decided the downsides (as outlined below) of timecodes outweighed their utility.

This is helpful for any long-content viewers who may watch in multiple sessions and (vods, video essay viewers) and have their browser set to 'restore previous session'. If the timestamps are hard coded into the url, then restoring the previous session will send you to a fixed point in the video every time, making it have the opposite of useful for resuming.

This will make resuming navigating to and resuming videos in your browser slightly less accurate (maybe a few seconds behind your last watched moment).

Note: Timecodes can still be used just fine, just the thumbnails you click in your browser will no longer automatically have timecodes if you have partially watched videos.
