WordGloss gives you fast, inline word definitions without interrupting your browsing.

Select a word on nearly any webpage and WordGloss opens a compact definition card with:

Clear, concise definitions Multiple meanings when available Human pronunciation recordings from Wiktionary/Wikimedia Commons when available Speech synthesis as a fallback when recorded pronunciation is unavailable Automatic language detection Manual language selection Support for multiple languages Fast cached lookups

WordGloss is designed to stay out of the way: select a word, get its meaning, and continue reading without opening another tab.

What WordGloss can access: WordGloss only reads the word you select so it can provide a definition. It may also use the webpage’s language setting to choose the appropriate dictionary.

WordGloss does NOT read or collect: -The rest of the webpage -Surrounding sentences or paragraphs -Your browsing history -Cookies or saved website data -Passwords, account details, or form entries -Clipboard contents -Images, links, or downloaded files

The selected word is sent to DictionaryAPI or Wiktionary to retrieve its definition. Pronunciation audio may also be loaded from Wiktionary, Wikimedia Commons, or another listed audio provider. WordGloss does not contain advertising, analytics, or tracking.
