Harvésort: A YouTube Search Tool
youtube-sbd
Harvésort restores control in YouTube search results. It doesn't just search YouTube; it harvests it, sorts it's metadata and filters it locally. YouTube sort-by-date filter is gone, but this can replicate it and more.
This is now Harvésort; formally called YT:Sort By Date. The previous method of this add-on was broken by YouTube changes, so I put together something BIGGER.
YouTube’s search has changed, and it's not getting better. Harvésort is an extension built to try and restore some control. It doesn't just search YouTube; it harvests it. On demand in day-by-day style searching and serves it back to you, the user.
How it works: Everything this tool does is handled locally on your computer. It is utilizing YouTube's api calls that are used anytime you use its service to collect and temporarily store the same information YouTube is using to show you results normally; the difference is Harvésort collects results from different chunks of time using date search filters (before:YYYY-MM-DD and after:YYYY-MM-DD) automatically for you. The results are used to build a local database of results that we can then filter ourselves using the metadata YouTube easily provides. You can easily see what data is stored for this database with this using the export tool for the results and see in the json. And this database is cleared anytime you do a new search right now. You do not even ned a YouTube account to use this extension.
Some future features I might try adding later if this doesn't break in a week or two:
