eventize

Convert objects into event emitters, that emit events before and after calling the specified methods.

Installation

Dependencies:

• node >= 0.10
• npm >= 2.0.0

npm install eventize

Usage

var eventize = require('eventize'); // equivalent to require('eventize').object

var myObject = {
  name: 'John',
  getName: function() {
    return this.name;
  },
  setName: function(name) {
    this.name = name;
    return name;
  }
};

eventize(myObject, ['setName']);

myObject.on('setName:before', function(args) {
  console.log('Current name:', myObject.name, ', new name:', args[0]);
  //> Current name: John, new name: Jack
});

myObject.on('setName', function(args) {
  console.log('Current name:', myObject.name, ', new name:', args[0]);
  //> Current name: John, new name: Jack
});

myObject.on('setName:after', function(args, returnValue) {
  console.log('Current name:', myObject.name, ', new name:', args[0],

Tests

To run the tests with Jasmine:

npm install
npm test
