notiero-mcp
The notebook your AI writes to. Your AI saves notes into your free Notiero notebook. It writes, you read them on any device.
Chats get lost and assistants forget between sessions. Give yours somewhere to write: decisions, snippets that worked, summaries, to-dos for tomorrow. It can add to a running log, and with a key you allow to read, search what it saved so it remembers across chats. Nothing to host.

No install at all? Use the remote server: add https://notiero.com/mcp as a custom connector in Claude (web, desktop, phone) or ChatGPT developer mode, then approve it on the Notiero page. OAuth, no key to copy. Guides: Claude · ChatGPT.
Setup
- In Notiero, sign in, open Settings → For your AI, pick Add notes only or Add and read the AI folder, then Create a key (copy it, it's shown once).
- Add the server to your MCP client with that key.
Claude Code, one line:
claude mcp add --scope user --env NOTIERO_API_KEY=nti_your_key_here notiero -- npx -y notiero-mcp
Claude Desktop / Cursor / Windsurf (mcpServers config):
{
"mcpServers": {
"notiero": {
"command": "npx",
"args": ["-y", "notiero-mcp"],
"env": { "NOTIERO_API_KEY": "nti_your_key_here" }
}
}
}
Then ask your AI to "save this to my Notiero".
Step-by-step for your app (exact file paths, one-click install where the app has it):

ChatGPT and the claude.ai website use the remote server at https://notiero.com/mcp instead of this package (see above).
Tools
write_note | text, title?, folder?, tags?, private? | Save a new note in your AI folder (optionally a subfolder). Returns its id. private: true (secrets) keeps it outside the AI folder, never readable. | any |
append_to_note | id, text | Add text to the end of a note in the AI folder (running logs). | any |
move_note | id, folder | Move a note to another folder inside the AI folder. | any |
list_folders | | Folders inside the AI folder, with note counts. | read |
search_notes | query, folder?, limit? | Find notes in the AI folder, best match first. | read |
read_note | id | One note's full text. | read |
list_notes | folder?, limit? | Latest notes in the AI folder. | read |
No tool can delete. The server also ships instructions that tell your AI when to save and to search before answering from memory.
Claude skill
Good habits for Claude (when to save, how to title, search first):
mkdir -p ~/.claude/skills/notiero && curl -fsSL https://notiero.com/for-your-ai/SKILL.md -o ~/.claude/skills/notiero/SKILL.md
Claude app: upload notiero-skill.zip in Settings → Capabilities → Skills.
Reliable by default
- Every request has a timeout (15 s, set
NOTIERO_TIMEOUT_MS to change it).
- Network errors and server errors are retried 3 times with backoff.
- Writes carry an
Idempotency-Key, so a retry after a lost answer never saves a note or an append twice.
- Clear errors for a revoked key, a write-only key, a note over 100 KB, or a full inbox.
npx -y notiero-mcp --help and --version work without a key.

Privacy
- Everything your AI writes goes into a folder called AI. That folder is the only part of your notebook a key can reach.
- New notes wait in a short-lived inbox, encrypted at rest with a per-account key, until the Notiero app encrypts them into your notebook on your device.
- With a key that may read, the app keeps a copy of the AI folder on the server so your AI can search it. It never includes locked notes, and it is deleted when you revoke your last reading key. The rest of your notebook stays end-to-end encrypted.
- Only a SHA-256 hash of each key is stored. Revoke keys anytime in Settings → For your AI.
