TruthPal MCP

An installable local MCP server exposing truthpal_verify. Each tool call sends one paid request to TruthPal using the operator's own Base wallet.

The proposed MIT license applies only to this distributable MCP client package. It does not license the hosted TruthPal API or repository code outside packages/truthpal-mcp.

Install in an MCP client

After the package is published, configure the client to launch it with Node.js and provide a dedicated wallet key through the client's secret/environment mechanism:

{
  "mcpServers": {
    "truthpal": {
      "command": "npx",
      "args": ["--yes", "truthpal-mcp"],
      "env": {
        "X402_BUYER_PRIVATE_KEY": "<dedicated Base wallet private key>"
      }
    }
  }
}

The server is locked to https://api.thetruthpal.com/v1/verify; the model cannot select another recipient or URL. Each successful invocation costs $0.02 USDC on Base (eip155:8453). Fund the dedicated wallet only with the amount you are willing to spend. Store its key in the MCP host's secret manager or protected local environment; never commit it to source control or share it with an agent. The x402 client checks the endpoint, recipient, asset, amount, and network before signing. Failure cancellation and signed-authorization reuse are not guaranteed. Do not automatically retry ambiguous failures.

Tool

truthpal_verify accepts:

  • claim: factual claim (5–2,000 characters)
  • source_url: public HTTP or HTTPS URL (maximum 2,048 characters)

Example prompt: “Use truthpal_verify to assess whether https://science.nasa.gov/moon/facts/ supports the claim that the Moon is about 4.5 billion years old.”

The result evaluates only the supplied source; it is not independent corroboration or a general truth oracle.

Local development

From this directory, run npm install, npm test, and npm run build. Use the MCP Inspector with npm run start to inspect the tool; invoking it against production makes a real paid request.
