verbative-memory
On-device memory system for AI coding agents — a dual-layer engine (distilled facts + a
lossless event ledger), automatically captured and injected, exposed over MCP. Shared across
agents, persistent across sessions; stored as human-readable files in your repo. No memory
cloud, no vendor database.
Install (any MCP client)
Claude Code CLI:
claude mcp add verbative-memory -- npx -y verbative-memory
Cursor / Windsurf / Gemini CLI (mcp.json style):
{ "mcpServers": { "verbative-memory": { "command": "npx", "args": ["-y", "verbative-memory"] } } }
VS Code (Copilot MCP):
{
"servers": {
"verbative-memory": { "type": "stdio", "command": "npx", "args": ["-y", "verbative-memory"] }
}
}
First run downloads the on-device engine + models (~4 GB, one time). After
that: zero network. Tools exposed: remember, search, list, pin,
forget, edit_core, feedback, and more.
Benchmarked on LongMemEval (retrieval protocol) — see
https://verbative.de/memory for current numbers.
