Advanced tools
MCP server that exposes the PDF Generation API (generate PDFs, list templates, check usage) to AI agents.
This package implements a Model Context Protocol (MCP) stdio server for the PDF Generation API. AI clients (Claude Desktop, Cursor, and others) can discover and invoke your API as structured tools instead of ad-hoc HTTP snippets.
Base URL: https://pdfapi-nu.vercel.app
API key: Create one at https://pdfapi-nu.vercel.app/dashboard/login.
From the mcp-server directory after cloning the repo:
npm install
npm run build
To install the built CLI globally from this folder:
npm install -g .
After publishing to npm (optional):
npm install -g @aranswill/mcp-server
Or run once with npx (when the package is published):
npx @aranswill/mcp-server
For local development without publishing, point your MCP config at node and the absolute path to mcp-server/dist/index.js (see below).
Edit your Claude Desktop config file:
~/Library/Application Support/Claude/claude_desktop_config.json%AppData%\Claude\claude_desktop_config.jsonAdd an entry under mcpServers (use your absolute paths):
{
"mcpServers": {
"pdfapi": {
"command": "node",
"args": ["C:/path/to/pdf-generation-api/mcp-server/dist/index.js"]
}
}
}
Restart Claude Desktop after saving.
In Cursor Settings → MCP, add a server, or edit your user MCP config (e.g. Cursor Settings → Open MCP config / project .cursor/mcp.json depending on your Cursor version).
Example using the local built server:
{
"mcpServers": {
"pdfapi": {
"command": "node",
"args": ["C:/path/to/pdf-generation-api/mcp-server/dist/index.js"]
}
}
}
Use forward slashes or escaped backslashes in paths on Windows. Restart Cursor or reload the MCP panel after changes.
