@aws-sdk/middleware-content-length is a middleware package for the AWS SDK for JavaScript. It automatically calculates and sets the Content-Length header for HTTP requests made using the AWS SDK. This is particularly useful for ensuring that the correct content length is specified for requests, which can help prevent issues with incomplete or malformed requests.
Automatic Content-Length Calculation
This feature automatically calculates and sets the Content-Length header for HTTP requests. In this example, the middleware is added to the S3 client's middleware stack, and it ensures that the Content-Length header is correctly set for a PutObjectCommand.
const { S3Client, PutObjectCommand } = require('@aws-sdk/client-s3');
const { middlewareContentLength } = require('@aws-sdk/middleware-content-length');
const client = new S3Client({
region: 'us-west-2',
});
client.middlewareStack.add(middlewareContentLength(), {
step: 'build',
priority: 'low',
});
const command = new PutObjectCommand({
Bucket: 'example-bucket',
Key: 'example-object',
Body: 'Hello, world!',
});
client.send(command).then((response) => {
console.log('Object uploaded successfully:', response);
}).catch((error) => {
console.error('Error uploading object:', error);
});
Axios is a popular HTTP client for JavaScript that automatically sets the Content-Length header for POST and PUT requests when the request body is a string or a Buffer. Unlike @aws-sdk/middleware-content-length, Axios is a general-purpose HTTP client and not specifically designed for AWS SDK.
Request is another HTTP client for Node.js that can automatically set the Content-Length header for requests with a body. It is similar to Axios in that it is a general-purpose HTTP client, whereas @aws-sdk/middleware-content-length is specifically designed to work with the AWS SDK.
