Thanks to Stephen Chadwick for enhancements and modifications
Installing ewdGateway2
npm install ewdgateway2
..or copy the files from the lib directory of this repository into your working Node.js directory
npm will also install socket.io. If you install ewdGateway2 manually, you must remember to also install socket.io:
npm install socket.io
If you are using GT.M you must install David Wicksell's MNode interface package.
If you are using GlobalsDB or Caché, ewdGateway2 uses their native Node.js interface. If you are
using a version of Cache earlier than 2012.2, you can make use of the interface files (cache*.node) that are
included with [GlobalsDB] (http://globalsdb.org).
##EWD Lite
ewdGateway2 now includes an entirely WebSocket-based subset of EWD known as EWD Lite. EWD Lite does not
require anything other than the ewdGateway2 module: it is entirely JavaScript-based and can work with
the free [GlobalsDB database] (http://globalsdb.org), in addition to GT.M and Caché
##Standard EWD
The ewdGateway2 module is compatible with EWD build 952 or later
EWD Gateway
EWD is a proven web application/Ajax framework specifically designed for use with GT.M and Caché databases,
allowing extremely rapid development of secure, high-performance web applications.
The ewdGateway2 module provides a multi-purpose web application gateway for EWD applications. Functionality includes:
- web server
- web server gateway to GT.M and Caché, pre-configured for running EWD applications;
- websockets middle-tier connecting browser to GT.M or Caché, pre-configured for the EWD Realtime functionality;
- integrated OO access to globals from Javascript/Node.js
The ewdGateway2 module can be used as a replacement for a standard web server such as IIS or Apache, and no other
gateway technology is required. The ewdGateway2 module automatically makes child_process connections to your GT.M
or Caché database, the number of connections being determined by the poolSize that you specify.
