AWS SDK for JavaScript Marketplace Entitlement Service Client for Node.js, Browser and React Native
@aws-sdk/client-marketplace-entitlement-service is an AWS SDK for JavaScript package that allows developers to interact with the AWS Marketplace Entitlement Service. This service helps in managing and retrieving entitlement information for AWS Marketplace products.
GetEntitlements
The GetEntitlements feature allows you to retrieve entitlement values for a given product. This is useful for checking what entitlements a customer has for a specific product.
const { MarketplaceEntitlementServiceClient, GetEntitlementsCommand } = require('@aws-sdk/client-marketplace-entitlement-service');
const client = new MarketplaceEntitlementServiceClient({ region: 'us-west-2' });
const params = {
ProductCode: 'your-product-code',
Filter: {
CUSTOMER_IDENTIFIER: ['customer-identifier']
}
};
const run = async () => {
try {
const data = await client.send(new GetEntitlementsCommand(params));
console.log(data);
} catch (err) {
console.error(err);
}
};
run();
@aws-sdk/client-license-manager is another AWS SDK package that helps manage software licenses across AWS and on-premises environments. While @aws-sdk/client-marketplace-entitlement-service focuses on entitlements for AWS Marketplace products, @aws-sdk/client-license-manager is broader and deals with license management in general.
@aws-sdk/client-marketplace-catalog is an AWS SDK package that allows you to manage your listings in the AWS Marketplace. It provides functionalities to create, update, and describe entities in the AWS Marketplace Catalog. This package is more focused on the catalog management aspect, whereas @aws-sdk/client-marketplace-entitlement-service is focused on entitlements.

AWS Marketplace Entitlement Service
This reference provides descriptions of the AWS Marketplace Entitlement Service API.
AWS Marketplace Entitlement Service is used to determine the entitlement of a customer to a given product. An entitlement represents capacity in a product owned by the customer. For example, a customer might own some number of users or seats in an SaaS application or some amount of data capacity in a multi-tenant database.
Getting Entitlement Records
GetEntitlements- Gets the entitlements for a Marketplace product.
To install this package, simply type add or install @aws-sdk/client-marketplace-entitlement-service using your favorite package manager:
npm install @aws-sdk/client-marketplace-entitlement-service
yarn add @aws-sdk/client-marketplace-entitlement-service
pnpm add @aws-sdk/client-marketplace-entitlement-service
The AWS SDK is modulized by clients and commands.
To send a request, you only need to import the MarketplaceEntitlementServiceClient
and
the commands you need, for example GetEntitlementsCommand
:
// ES5 example
const {
MarketplaceEntitlementServiceClient,
GetEntitlementsCommand,
} = require("@aws-sdk/client-marketplace-entitlement-service");
// ES6+ example
import {
MarketplaceEntitlementServiceClient,
GetEntitlementsCommand,
} from "@aws-sdk/client-marketplace-entitlement-service";
To send a request, you:
send
operation on client with command object as input.destroy()
to close open connections.// a client can be shared by different commands.
const client = new MarketplaceEntitlementServiceClient({ region: "REGION" });
const params = {
/** input parameters */
};
const command = new GetEntitlementsCommand(params);
We recommend using await operator to wait for the promise returned by send operation as follows:
// async/await.
try {
const data = await client.send(command);
// process data.
} catch (error) {
// error handling.
} finally {
// finally.
}
Async-await is clean, concise, intuitive, easy to debug and has better error handling as compared to using Promise chains or callbacks.
You can also use Promise chaining to execute send operation.
client.send(command).then(
(data) => {
// process data.
},
(error) => {
// error handling.
}
);
Promises can also be called using .catch()
and .finally()
as follows:
client
.send(command)
.then((data) => {
// process data.
})
.catch((error) => {
// error handling.
})
.finally(() => {
// finally.
});
We do not recommend using callbacks because of callback hell, but they are supported by the send operation.
// callbacks.
client.send(command, (err, data) => {
// process err and data.
});
The client can also send requests using v2 compatible style. However, it results in a bigger bundle size and may be dropped in next major version. More details in the blog post on modular packages in AWS SDK for JavaScript
import * as AWS from "@aws-sdk/client-marketplace-entitlement-service";
const client = new AWS.MarketplaceEntitlementService({ region: "REGION" });
// async/await.
try {
const data = await client.getEntitlements(params);
// process data.
} catch (error) {
// error handling.
}
// Promises.
client
.getEntitlements(params)
.then((data) => {
// process data.
})
.catch((error) => {
// error handling.
});
// callbacks.
client.getEntitlements(params, (err, data) => {
// process err and data.
});
When the service returns an exception, the error will include the exception information, as well as response metadata (e.g. request id).
try {
const data = await client.send(command);
// process data.
} catch (error) {
const { requestId, cfId, extendedRequestId } = error.$metadata;
console.log({ requestId, cfId, extendedRequestId });
/**
* The keys within exceptions are also parsed.
* You can access them by specifying exception names:
* if (error.name === 'SomeServiceException') {
* const value = error.specialKeyInException;
* }
*/
}
