Magnolia Light Module for providing a responsive google maps integration.
Magnolia Light Module for providing 2 google maps components: google-maps
and google-directions
install the light module using a package manager like npm or yarn
npm install google-maps-magnolia
Enable the google-maps
-component and/or the google-directions
-component in you desired areas like this:
availableComponents:
google-maps:
id: google-maps-magnolia:components/google-maps
google-directions:
id: google-maps-magnolia:components/google-directions
Hint: If you're having the travel-demo (magnolia sample site), these component will automatically be available in the "Standard" Templates (see screenshots above).
Retrieve a (free) Google Maps API Key https://developers.google.com/maps/documentation/embed/guide?hl=en#api_key and set it as parameter google-maps-magnolia-api-key
in the site definition like this:
(Optionally) customize your components by using your own templateScript. You can either do this by decorating the components or definining your own components, which then uses the google-maps-magnolia:components/google-maps
or the google-maps-magnolia:components/google-directions
dialog. The mentioned dialogs may be decorated as well.
dialog: google-maps-magnolia:components/google-maps
templateScript: /path/to/my/custom/template/script.ftl
Hint: You should try to stay upgradeable by including utils.ftl
in your own templateScript and using the provided macros and functions. Afterwards a simple package update like npm update google-maps-magnolia
will give you the latest bugfixes and enhancements for this light module. For the same reason you probably shouldn't write your own dialog, but decorate the existing one with your custom fields. Here is an example, how you could extend/wrap the google-maps
component in a custom component:
[#include "/google-maps-magnolia/templates/inc/utils.ftl" /]
<div class="my-custom-wrapper">
<h2>My Custom Title</h2>
<p>My custom description</p>
[@renderGoogleMapsComponent content=content /]
[#--
Alternatively use [@renderGoogleDirectionsComponent content=content /]
--]
</div>
